In the interest of getting fair results, everyone who has an LJ account should vote in my poll here.
And yes, this poll happened as a result of discovering that you people do it backwards. ;)
Yay, Fudge is famous! You can choose the "Scribble Dog Fudge" theme on Vox now (it'll be on LiveJournal next release). She even comes with a little steak! Check out my Vox blog to see her in all her cuteness! :)
What's the most extreme weather you've been in? A memorable storm? Heat wave? Or something else?
The blizzard of January 1996, when I lived in NY (slightly upstate). We lived in a town that was on a mountain, so we got even more snow than the areas around us. We actually got a full week off from school for it, since they couldn't get the roads plowed and we were literally trapped in the house for a while from the snow drifts.
But it was really awesome to play in that snow. When drifts are twice as big as you are, it's like heaven to an 11-year-old kid. :)
Yay, I got my YouTube video on Vox (I used a tag that wasn't commonly used, and had to wait at least half a day for it to appear in my search results here on Vox). So now you all get to see Fudge eating a pork shank. :)
Anyone know why the Vox theme headers are lacking on the neighborhood page? For example, I see Mocha on my Vox blog, but not on my neighborhood page (she got replaced by an extra bone!). I spend a lot more time at my neighborhood page than at my blog, so I don't get to see the cute header very often. I want to see it!
I really hope that Fudge makes it into a theme. How can you resist this face?
Also, I have a video of Fudge eating a pork hock! Sadly, the lighting wasn't good, so you can't see it too well. I plan to do a better video tomorrow!
Well, that sucks. Apparently you can't give Vox a YouTube URL to post? I tried searching for the video by tag, but it's not coming up (I guess there are too many results?). I don't really feel like waiting for it to upload the video to Vox, it's pretty big. Am I missing something here, or can you really not post a specific YouTube video?
Let's go with "janinedog"...
Back in the day (around 7th grade or so), I had a very big obsession with Beanies Babies (this was during the heart of the fad). I posted on the message boards on ty.com a lot, and met another girl around my age. She called herself "MagickOne"; the name came from Magic the Dragon, her favorite Beanie Baby.
Now, there was this group called the Beanie Bashers Club, which was basically a group of dads who made a website of pictures of chopped up Beanie Babies. They hated them because their wives and kids were obsessed with them. MagickOne and I couldn't have this, of course, so I created a website called the Anti-Beanie Bashers Club (on Geocities, of course). It even played the "Mission: Impossible" theme song when the site loaded, and used frames and everything! Oh, how I loved the internet back in the late '90s.
So anyway, I needed a nickname. I decided to go with ScottyDog; Scottie the Scottish Terrier being my favorite Beanie Baby.
ScottyDog was my online nick for a long time, even long after I stopped collecting Beanie Babies. It was pretty easy to get the name on different services, except when I went to sign up for a Hotmail account--ScottyDog was already taken! So I racked my brain and decided to go with JanineDog instead--why not put my first name in there?
But that was the only place that I used JanineDog, at first. When I created my LiveJournal account, I went with the username of "planetjanine", which was the name of my personal website. I don't remember why I didn't choose ScottyDog, but I think it was because I had found LiveJournal through a friend's website, and for some reason thought that LiveJournal was supposed to integrate with my website or something.
I had the username planetjanine for quite some time. And then I decided that I needed to change my name, because it was kind of weird and I didn't like it much. It was at that time that I name-hogged a few names that I liked (including both scottydog and janinedog), and posted a poll in my journal (because no decision should ever be made without polling your friends list first). janinedog won, and I liked it, and that's been my name ever since. I eventually got a new AIM screen name too, because my old one (ScottyDog5) resulted in many people IMing me say "what's up scott". I was tired of being Scott.
And that is the story of my name! In the end, it fits me really well: it's my name, plus "dog"; and anyone who knows me knows how I feel about dogs. :)
Um, practically everything, haha. I'm still a very picky eater, but when I was young I was even more of a picky eater. If my mom made something I didn't like for dinner, I'd heat up some Franco-American canned spaghetti for myself.
But if I had to pick one food, I'd have to say sushi. Mmm sushi.
Well, I don't have a nightstand. But I am currently reading "Raw Meaty Bones Promote Health" by Tom Lonsdale. It's yet another book about raw feeding for carnivores (dogs and cats). I've read a couple books so far and keep reading more, because I'm too interested in it for my own good!
Normally I'd be reading manga, but I've been trying to save some money, and at $10/book, manga's damn expensive. Too bad I suck at saving money!
Well, there's the obligatory "Firefly" answer, of course. But I'm also sad that Invader Zim was cancelled. I love that show.
Hi! I got an email for this comment. :)I'm glad that there's still some of the original KidMud people around... read more
